He had accumulated six farms before his death.  At his passing, each child drew a piece of paper from a hat to determine which farm they would receive.  Bettie Lander Hopson drew the farm at the corner of Cerulean Springs &amp;amp; Sinking Fork Roads in Gracey, KY.  Her brother, William "Will" Newton Lander, drew a farm across the road.  Bettie's farm was 136 acres.  There she settled with Meredith Shellcross Hopson. Bettie Lander Hopson told of her need to be away from the farm when a lamb was slaughtered.
